Unemployment Rate Change In Tennessee For July
After three straight months of Tennessee’s unemployment rate sitting at 3.5%, there was a slight change in July. The unemployment rate for the state of Tennessee ticked upward one tenth of a percent to 3.6% last month. The unemployment rate in July of 2024 in Tennessee was 3.4%.
In July, nonfarm employment decreased by 900 jobs, with the biggest declines in Private Education and Health Services, followed by the Leisure and Hospitality sector and the Nondurable Goods Manufacturing sector. While the unemployment rate rose just a little in the state, it is still well below the national average of 4.2%. Individual county unemployment numbers in Tennessee will be released late next week.
