Unemployment Rate Drops For Cocke County
Unemployment numbers for Tennessee counties for the month of November were released on Thursday. According to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, 89 of the state’s 95 counties recorded lower unemployment rates for the month, compared to October. Cocke County is one of the 89 counties to see a dip in the unemployment rate.
Cocke County’s rate was 4.4% in October. The rate dropped one tenth of a percent to 4.3% in November. Most other counties in the area saw their rates drop as well by at least one if not two tenths of a percent.
Greene County: 4.5%, which is the highest of the surrounding counties.
Hamblen County: 3.5%
Jefferson County: 3.4%
Sevier County: 2.6%, which is tied for second lowest in the state.
Grainger County had the biggest drop in the area from 3.8 to 3.5%.
Moore County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 2.4%. Perry County has the highest unemployment rate at 5.3%.
The overall unemployment rate in Tennessee is 3.4%.
