Unemployment Rates Fall In All 95 Counties
County unemployment rates were released for the month of August. All counties saw their unemployment rates drop during August. That includes Cocke County. The rate dropped from 5.5% in July to 4.7% in August for Cocke County. That ranks 87th out of the 95 counties in the state. Greene County’s unemployment rate went from 4.7 to 3.9%. Hamblen County dropped to 3.5% after being at 4.1% in July. Jefferson County’s unemployment rate dropped from 3.9 to 3.5% and Sevier County is tied for the third lowest unemployment rate in the state…Sevier County’s unemployment rate is 2.6%. That is down just a bit from 2.9% in July.
Perry County once again had the highest unemplyment rate in the state at 5.6%. The lowest unemployment rate can be found once again in Williamson County at 2.3%. By the way, Moore County, metropolitan Lynchburg…the home of Jack Daniels…has the third lowest rate in the state at 2.6%.
