Update On Ramsey Cascade Trail
Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials released an update on the Ramsey Cascades Trail. The park had plans to open the trail during the weekend, but the heavy rains we have had this week have kept crews from completing work that was planned on a footlog bridge this week, so they need to keep the trail closed for visitor safety this weekend. Following this weekend, the trail will be closed Monday through Thursday each week, except Federal holidays. The weekday closures are in place through November 14 as trail crews complete a full-scale rehabilitation of that iconic trail, which was damaged by flooding during the summer of 2022.
Park officials are also warning hikers in the other areas of the park, they should exercise caution over the next few days as there are downed trees and some flooding in the park following this week’s heavy rain.
