US Forest Service To Conduct Prescribed Burns In Cocke County
The US Forest Service has announced their plans to conduct prescribed fires at some locations in the Chereokee National Forest. A couple of those prescribed burns will be in Cocke County. The first is on Chestnut Ridge and will be 1230 acres–Just northwest of Max Patch Mountain along the Tennessee/North Carolina border. The second will be a 512 acre prescribed fire at Fed Fork, 3 miles south of the French Broad River and 2 miles south of Hwy 25/70 in the Wolf Creek Drainage area. Those fires will be conducted sometime between now and the end of May…weather permitting.
