Vols Kickoff Season With Big Win
The Tennessee Vols got their 2022 season underway last night at Neyland stadium and it was at the expense of the Ball State Cardinals. The visitors tried a little trickery on the first play of the game and it turned into the Tennessee’s first points. The Cardinals used a flea flicker on that first play and the pass was picked off by Tamarion McDonald and the UT offense led by Hendon Hooker struck quickly. Hooker found Jalin Hyatt for a touchdown on the Vols first play from scrimmage. The Vols led 17-0 after the frist quarter and they poured it on from there taking a 38-0 lead into half time. Hendon Hooker finished the game 18/25 passing for 221 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also ran for two scores.
Backup quarterback Joe MIlton saw action in the second half and hit Jimmy Holliday on a 53 yard bomb to finish the scoring in the 4th quarter…the final score Vols over Ball State 59-10. Joe Milton finished the game completing 8 of 9 passes for 113 yards.
Jaylen Wright led the Vols rushing attack with 88 yards on 13 carries…Jabari Small added 64 more on the same amount of carries. The Vols start the season 1-0, but next week is their first real test as they head out on the road to take on Pittsburgh September 10th…Pitt is currently ranked 17th in the nation.
