It took 16 years for the Tennessee Volunteers to go back to the college world series…but it proved to be a short stay. Yesterday afternoon in Omaha, a freshman pitcher for the Texas Longhorns throttled the Vols early which let the Longhorns get a lead and eventually take down Tennessee 8-4 sending the Vols home winless in two games at the college world series.
Mississippi State advanced though defeating Virginia yesterday. There are now 6 teams left…and two of the them, the Bulldogs and Vanderbilt are from the SEC. Vandy will play today in an elimination game against Stanford.
