Voter Turnout Low In Cocke County…Less than 23%
As we said earlier, voter turnout was very low for election day. Early voting nearly outdid the turnout at the polling places in Cocke County. 2,963 voters went out to the polls yesterday while 2,422 voted early. There were also 119 absentee ballots received by the Cocke County Election Commission.
That means a total of 5,504 voters cast ballots in Cocke County. That is less than 23% of the 24,386 registered voters in the county.
In the Presidential Primary elections, both Donald Trump and Joe Biden won handily in Cocke County. Trump won 87% of the vote in the Republican primary. Nikki Haley got 11%. On the Democrat5 side, President Joe Biden received 91% to 8% for uncommitted.
Statewide, both Trump and Biden had big victories. Trump winning 77% of the Republican vote with Joe Biden winning 92% of the Democrat vote.
In the Republican primary, Nikki Haley won 19% of the vote while several candidates that have dropped out of the race received votes. Those include Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Vivak Ramaswamey, Chad Brinkley and Asa Hutchison.
