Wal-Mart Victim Of Jewelry Theft Again
Two jewelry thieves have struck again at the Wal-Mart in Newport. Loss prevention at Wal-Mart told Newport police they had video footage of Carl Meece and Ashley Morgan heisting merchandise from the jewelry counter. Meece could be seen in the footage gaining entry to a locked countertop jewelry display case. He then takes items from the display case and hands them to Morgan before grabbing more merchandise. The two got away with nearly $3,000 worth of jewelry. Meece and Morgan had been caught on camera back on October 11th doing the same thing. They got away with over $2100 on that occasion.
It’s not just the Newport Wal-Mart that Meece and Morgan have victimized. According to police the pair have been busy in East Tennessee, hitting Wal-Marts in Johnson City, Morristown and Knoxville. The Knoxville location being the hardest hit with a loss of nearly $3,800 in one stop. All total in Newport, the pair has stolen close to $12,000 in jewelry. Some of that they have pawned for personnel gain. The two have warrants out for their arrest for theft over $2500 and will also be charged with Organized Retail Theft when they are caught.
