Wanted Man Gives Morristown Police Hassle with Cuffs
Police in Morristown dealt with an unruly prisoner early Sunday morning. Officers were called to check out a suspicious vehicle sitting behind the McDonald’s on Buffalo Trail. At the wheel was 22 year old Michael Nita who told police he worked at Dollar General in Bean Station and was just waiting to go to work. When officers were checking him for warrants, Nita pulled out and headed towards Grainger County. Police pulled him over on the US 25E bridge over the Cherokee Lake. Nita, who is from Antioch, TN…a suburb of Nashville, was wanted in Franklin County Tennessee. Nita was cuffed and placed in the patrol car. However, Nita twice was able to get his handcuffs moved from the back to the front. He also escaped from leg restraints as well and moved across the backseat out of officer’s reach. Finally, Nita was forcefully pulled from the backseat of the cruiser, placed in hinged handcuffs and reinforced leg restraints. He was being held in the Hamblen County jail for Franklin County authorities.
