Warrant Issued For Hit And Run Driver That Killed 18 Month Old
Investigators with the Morristown Police Department have obtained an arrest warrant for the man believed to be responsible in the hit-and-run crash that killed an 18-month-old boy in south Morristown Saturday night.
According to a press release, at approximately 10:40pm Saturday evening, police were called to the scene on Louise Avenue where a white Scion tC had accelerated backwards into a residence. The child was sleeping inside and was killed in the impact.
Investigators have filed “Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving a Fatality” charges against Walter Noe Mendez. Mr. Mendez may have also previously used the names Luis Mendez, Louis Mendez and Luis Cardenas.
The Morristown Police Department believes that Mendez knows he is being sought by police and is attempting to evade authorities. He is being urged to turn himself in to law enforcement. Anyone with information concerning Mr. Mendez’s whereabouts or who sees him is asked not to approach him, instead contact the dispatch center immediately at 423-585-2701.
