Waterline Replacement Leads To Traffic Changes On W Hwy 25/70
On Wednesday, Newport Utilities began a waterline replacement project on W Highway 25-70. This project runs from the intersection with Country Path Rd. to the intersection with Indian Creek Rd, or Highway 363. The waterline replacement project also includes Old Newport Highway and Old Huff Hollow Rd. This is part of Newport Utilities’ 20 year plan to replace all existing cast iron pipe with new ductile iron pipe. To do this project requires some road closures and one lane traffic at these intersections on the side streets. Todd Blazer of Newport Utilities says there is not an estimate as to when this project will be complete. So, for the foreseeable future, if your travels take you on West Hwy 25-70 between US Hwy 411 and the Jefferson County line, you need to be aware of road closures, traffic pattern changes and flagmen in that area.
Brockwell Construction is the company that will be installing the new pipe and transferring all service lines over to the new water lines.
