Wheel Tax Increase In Hamblen County One Step Away

Residents in Hamblen County are about to start paying more for their car tags. The Hamblen County Commission this week had their second reading of a proposal to raise the Wheel Tax in Hamblen County. A new Justice Center is under construction for Hamblen County and is expected to be completed sometime in the fall of 2024. However, according to commissioners, that is not where the additional wheel tax money will be spent. That money will go into county’s Highway Capital Projects fund to be used for road improvements.
