White Pine Man Dies From Injuries In Florida Hit & Run

A newly married man from White Pine has died from injuries sustained in a hit and run accident in Florida. Christopher and Mary Coffey had gotten married on September 12th, and were headed to their honeymoon. The groom’s father had wanted the couple to fly, but Christopher had a brand new truck he wanted to drive. While traveling on I-95 in Volusia County Florida near Daytona Beach, a white Dodge Charger was merging onto the interstate at a high rate of speed and struck the newly married couple’s truck sending it off the interstate and rolling over. Christopher Coffey suffered serious injuries and died Saturday morning when he was taken off of life support. The Dodge Charger that struck the couple’s truck fled the scene without stopping. Florida State Police are currently searching for the driver of that vehicle. A GoFundMe page has been set up for donations to help the Coffey family with expenses.
