Wife Of Felon In Cosby Shooting Now Charged
The wife of a man who shot and killed himself at a home in Cosby last week when deputies attempted to take him into custody has now been arrested. Sheriff CJ Ball says 56 year old Pamula Pennington is being charged with Accessory After The Fact. In new information released by the Cocke County Sheriff’s office this morning, Pamula Pennington provided deputies false information that gave her husband Ronald Pennington time to get himself closed up in a bedroom of the home. Pamula told deputies that she had a dog she needed to put up before deputies entered because the dog was mean. That turned out to be false as she later told Newport Rescue Squad personnel that the dog was friendly.
Pamula Pennington also told deputies her husband had no access to guns, but when deputies entered the bedroom after hearing a gunshot, they found numerous rifles and magazines on the wall. Ronald Pennington had used a .45 caliber handgun to fatally shoot himself as well. Pamula also told deputies when they arrived that she had no idea why they were there, when she later admitted to knowing her husband was wanted for crimes committed in Ohio.
The report from the sheriff’s office states that by stalling deputies with a fake story about the dog, plus, lying about the weapons Ronald Pennington had on hand, she put the lives of deputies, children that were in the home and even herself in danger. Therefore, she has been charged in this case.
