Woman And Child Nearly Run Over In Cracker Barrel Parking Lot

Newport police were called to Cracker Barrel on Cosby Hwy over the weekend after a woman and her child were nearly run over in the parking lot. The 28 year old woman told police she was walking across the parking lot carrying her one year old child, when a gray SUV came close to running them both over. The woman claimed the man, a white male with white hair and a beard and appearing to be 70-75 years of age, got out of the vehicle and told her ” Where I come from in Tennessee, the only right-of-way you have is a crosswalk. The next time I won’t stop”. The man then drove away and was gone by the time police arrived on the scene. They have not been able to identify that individual.
