Woman arrested For Threatening Dollar General Employee

Newport police arrested a 49 year old woman Wednesday after she threatened an employee at Dollar General. Police were dispatched to the Dollar General on West Broadway…management told them that Tonya Weathers, who had been trespassed from the store, showed up at that location and threatened an employee. Weathers was found walking on Cope Blvd. and was under the influence of a narcotic. Weathers was arrested and transported to the Cocke County jail for public intoxication and assault. While in the patrol car, Weathers spit on the partition window. Upon arrival at the jail, she spit at patrolman Eli Suggs hitting him in the face. A charge of aggravated assault was added against her.
