Woman Falls Asleep At The Wheel Causing Crash
A woman was injured in Jefferson County on Wednesday after she fell asleep at the wheel. The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the 52 year old female was driving northbound on Old Dandridge Pike around 7:20 am Wednesday when she fell asleep and drove off the road. She then crashed into a concrete bridge that went across the ditch. Her vehicle then turned over on its side, trapping her inside. First responders had to extricate the woman from her SUV. She was then transported to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville because of her injuries,. The THP says the female driver was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed.
