Woman Injured In Single Car Accident

One woman was injured in a single car accident in Newport Friday night. Police got a call about a car that had struck a utility pole on North Street. A 2009 Toyota Camry was spotted sideways in the middle of the road and the utility pole in the parking lot of Knowles Market had been broken, causing phone lines to dangle just above the roadway. 60 year old Leann Devotie of Greeneville was the driver. She stated she remembered driving and the waking up in the middle of the road. Devotie told police she has a history of blacking out. Ms. Devotie was transported to the Newport Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.
