Wrong Way Driver Charged With DUI

Concerned motorists called 911 around 3 am New Years’ morning in reference to a lime green Jeep driving recklessly on Cosby Hwy near Armory Road. Deputies located the Jeep when it nearly struck Deputy Ronnie Sutton head on. Sutton had to swerve to avoid the collision as the driver of the jeep was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The driver of the Jeep was 38 year old Eric Williams of Kingsport. He was finally pulled over and he told Deputy Sutton he did not realize he was driving on the wrong side of the road. Williams was under the influence and failed sobriety tests. He was charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, DUI and an assortment of other moving violations.
