WSCC Hosts CarFit Event
Walters State Occupational Therapy Assistant students are looking to help senior citizens be more comfortable in their vehicles. CarFit is an educational program designed to help older drivers find out how well they fit in their personal vehicle. A proper fit in a personal vehicle can greatly increase driving safety and comfort, especially those who are older. During the first ever CarFit event at Walters State on Thursday, students will focus on the steering wheel, mirrors and also seats in your vehicle, especially the most important one, the drivers’ seat.
Occupational Therapy Assistant instructor John Pruett says students can also offer pointers in getting into and out of your car. Pruett says this CarFit event also gives the college’s OTA students an additional certification upon their graduation. The CarFit event takes place Thursday from noon-2 on the Morristown campus. Pruett says the session only takes about five minutes of your time and you may not even have to get out of your vehicle.
