WSCC To Offer Medication Aide Course For CNA’s
Walters State Community College has announced they will be offering a course that will be of interest to those in the nursing field. The Medication Aide Certified (MA-C) Program will be offered through the college’s division of workforce training. The course trains certified nursing assistants in the safe administration of medications to clients in healthcare settings. The class is comprised of 60 hours of training, 40 in the classroom and 20 clinical hours in a long-term care facility. Upon successful completion of the course, students can then take the medication aide certified exam and then be eligible to apply for certification with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
The first class begins on June 4. Classes will be held on the Morristown campus from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. That first class runs through July 10. The cost of the course is $899. Walters State is the first community college in the state of Tennessee to offer this program.
