Christmas Classic Becomes Official State Holiday Song
Brenda Lee was rocking around the state capitol on Monday. This after the country and rock and roll hall of famer was awarded with a proclaimation by the governor, listing “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” as the Official Holiday Song of Tennessee. A bill had been proposed last December enshrining the song into Tennessee history. The legislature passed the bill last March and Governor Bill Lee signed it into law in April. Monday morning, little Miss Dynamite received her official proclaimation at the state capitol. Brenda Lee, who will turn 80 in about a week, recorded the now Christmas classic in 1958 when she was just 13.
