Cocke County Awarded Federal Funds For Food & Shelter Programs
A National Board that is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from the American Red Cross and other agencies has awarded Cocke County with funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program….those funds are to be used to expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas…and Cocke County has been recognized as a high need area. The funds awarded to Cocke County are in the amounts of $12,776 and $39,487. Those funds are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service organizations in the area. Those organizations must be private voluntary nonprofits or units of the government, 2) have an accounting system, 3) practice nondiscrimination, 4) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.
Public or private voluntary organizations interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds can pick up an application at the Cocke County Mayor’s Office…those applications must be turned back in to the County Mayor’s office by Monday, March 7th at 4PM.
