Cocke County Receives Additional Funding For Innovation Park
Cocke County received some good news on Tuesday regarding the under construction Innovation Park in Newport. The Cocke County Mayor’s office received notification that the county had been approved for $2 million in state funding to complete construction for the new industrial center that will provide much-needed manufacturing and industrial jobs for the county. This $2 million in funding will provide things like electricity, broadband, paving and lights to the park, after $2 million in funding from the state last year was used to install sewer.
Cocke County Mayor Rob Mathis says the completion of the Innovation Park is an important piece of in the recovery from Hurricane Helene, as the jobs it will provide will help replace the jobs that were lost due to the flood last September. Mathis credits the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the Cocke County CLB, State Officials and Director of Economic Development Daryl Brady and the newly formed Industrial Development Board for securing that funding.
