Cocke County To Hire Community Floodplain Manager
Cocke County is looking to hire a Community Floodplain Manager. That person will be responsible for overseeing the administration and enforcement of local, state, and federal floodplain regulations. The Community Floodplain Manager ensures community compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and will work to reduce flood risks, plus coordinate flood hazard mitigation activities.
The position reports to the Cocke County Mayor and will work in close collaboration with other departments. Mayor Rob Mathis says the person for the job needs to have strong communication skills, and excellent organization. Starting pay for the position is $40,000 a year to start, but will be bumoped up to $45,000 after training is complete.
Applicants must have a High school diploma or their GED. Previous experience and/or training in floodplain management is preferred but not required. Applicants need to have experience or knowledge of standard construction practices and materials.
