Governor Bill Lee Signs Bill Banning Glock Switches
On Wednesday, Governor Bill Lee signed legislation into law that bans what are known as “Glock” switches. “Glock” switches or Machinegun Conversion Devices, can be added to a semi-automatic handgun to basically turn it into an automatic weapon. That means, unlike a semi-automatic, where the trigger has to be pulled for each shot, only one pull of the trigger is required for an automatic weapon to fire rapid shots. That legislation passed in both the House and Senate earlier this year with bi-partisan support. Tennessee becomes the 27th state in the nation to now ban Glock switches.
Possessing, manufacturing, transporting, repairing, or selling an automatic weapon in Tennessee is now a Class C felony with the governor signing that bill.
