TN Law Enforcement Receiving Millions In Federal Funds
Over 415 federal grants exceeding $33 million have been awarded to law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across Tennessee. The Tennessee Highway Safety Office announced Thursday that the $33.5 million in federal grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would be distributed statewide for the 2025–2026 federal fiscal year.
Cocke County will see nearly $100,000 of that money. The Cocke County Sheriff’s Department gets the majority of the grant money…$65,000 which will go to fight impaired driving in the county. The Cocke County Fire Department gets the next largest amount, $12,440 to help with safety for first responders. The Newport and Parrottsville Police Departments will each receive $10,000 in funds to be used to deter dangerous driving behaviors and promote sober driving and also seat belt use.
The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office will be getting nearly $225,000 to prosecute DUI offenses. The 4th judicial district includes Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson, and Sevier counties.
Other counties around the area receiving funds are Greene County with a total of just under $120,000. Hamblen County and Morristown will get $46,000 while Jefferson County gets about $137,000. Sevier County will see the most dollars with a total of just over $150,000.
