UT’s Coach Heupel Gets Contract Extension
We are just three days away from the Tennessee Vols 2025 season kicking off. In advance of the big game, the Vols already have made headlines by announcing the contract extension of head coach Josh Heupel, who in his time at Tennessee has racked up a 37-15 record. That’s a winning percentage of 71.2%, which is the second-highest winning percentage of any Vol coach during in the last five decades. Heupel’s record also includes 11 victories over Top 25 teams and the school’s first appearance in the College Football Playoff. Only two head coaches in school history have won more games in their first four seasons, Bill Battle with 39 backj in the 1970’s and Philip Fulmer with 38 back in the 1990’s.
This latest contract extension will keep Coach Heupel at UT through the 2030 season. His compensation rate remains the same at nearly $9 million a year plus bonuses. Tennessee faces Syracuse in Atlanta on Saturday, 8/30 to kick off the 2025 season.
