Impaired Driver

Officer Zac Magouirk was dispatched to the area of Cosby Highway near Cosby High School on reports of a possible impaired driver in a white Jeep. The caller stated that the vehicle had ran off the road and nearly struck other vehicles several times. The officer observed the vehicle run off the right side of the roadway, and then followed it onto Greasy Cove Road where he again saw the vehicle run off the roadway as well as cross into the opposite lane of travel. The officer initiated a stop and the driver, identified as Amanda Webber was observed to have a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech.

Ms. Webber performed poorly on the field sobriety test and was taken into custody. Once at the jail, Ms. Webber stated two times to the officer quote “I’m not that drunk”. These statements were captured on body camera. Webber was advised of her rights pertaining to implied consent, but refused to give a blood sample.
