Newport Parks & Recreation Hosting Series Of Hikes

The Newport parks & recreation Department will be hosting a series of hikes in the Great Smoky Mountains area starting next month. All hikes will be easy to moderate in difficulty. All ages are welcome but anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian to be with them on the hike. The first of these hikes will take place on August 14th and will be the Cosby Creek self-guided Nature Trail in Cosby. That will be followed on August 21st with a trip to the Seven Islands Bird Sanctuary Loop in Kodak. All hikers will meet in the lower parking lot of the Newport Community Center and can either carpool in the City of Newport Van or follow in their own vehicle.
