Four Tractor-Trailers Involved in I-81 Wreck

A major accident involving four tractor trailers happened on Interstate 81 in the Tri-Cities area Saturday night. Police say that four separate tractor-trailers were driving in a line in the right lane when road conditions ahead required the first driver to brake…setting off a chain reaction….the second tractor trailer slowed down…but tractor trailer #3 was not able to stop and wound up rear ending the 2nd semi…knocking it into the first one. The third semi then jack knifed with the fourth semi running into it. The drivers of semi’s 1 & 2 were both treated for minor injuries, but the driver of the jack-knifed third semi had to be airlifted from the scene with what were thought to be major injuries. That crash is still under investigation.
