Ida’s Impact To Be Felt In East Tennessee
Hurricane Ida wreaking havoc in Louisiana…making landfall around noon on Sunday with 150 mph winds making tying it for the strongest winds for a landfall hurricane in that area. Ida’s impacts on our weather will be felt on Tuesday and Wednesday. We could see gusty winds and thunderstorms on Tuesday followed by wrap around heavy showers on Wednesday as Ida’s remnants move through. Anywhere from 1-3″ of rain could fall before Ida’s remains leave the area. The Cumberland Plateau will probably see the brunt of the precipitation with a possible 4″ of rain. Listen to 92.3 WNPC for complete weather details.
The one benefit that Ida will be bringing is cooler temps as we will bid goodbye to the 90 degree temps. Right now the forecast for the Vols home opener on Thursday looks really nice…as they should see temps in the upper 70’s at kickoff. Our low temperature on Thursday night could drop into the upper 50’s.
