Two Men Drop Off Dead Body At Newport Medical Center
Newport police are investigating after two people dropped off a dead body in the ambulance bay at the Newport Medical Center. Sunday morning around 3:19 am a pearl white colored SUV, possibly a Lincoln, with Hamblen County tags, a sunroof, and handicapped plaque, entered the ambulance bay. Two males got out of the vehicle and rang the assistance button at the entrance and advised that they had found an unconscious male “at the park.” Newport Medical Center employee, Randall Lebron, told police he went outside to investigate and found 34 year old Derrick Lee Robinson deceased in the back of the vehicle lying face down with blood coming from his nostrils. Lebron stated he and employee Harry Spurlock, assisted in removing Robinson’s body from the vehicle and into the Newport Medical Center. The two men who had dropped off the body then fled in the SUV. Lebron and Spurlock described both men as white, in their late 40’s or early 50’s, both with facial hair. Police report that Robinson had blood loss from both his nostrils and did not have any signs of rigor mortis at that time. Detectives are investigating that case.
