TBI Investigating Death Of Jefferson County Jail Inmate
The Jefferson County sheriff’s department is investigating the death of an inmate at the Jefferson County jail in Dandridge. According to the sheriff’s department, at around 3:16 Friday morning, Corrections Officers were summoned by an inmate that a fellow inmate was having some type of medical emergency. Corrections Officers responded and found a 39 year old male inmate unconscious. Corrections Officers, Jefferson County Deputies, and an officer from the Dandridge Police Department immediately began CPR and utilized an Automatic External Defibrillator. Jefferson County EMS arrived and transported the inmate to Jefferson Memorial ER where he was later pronounced deceased by medical staff. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the 4th District Attorney General Jimmy Dunns Office are now investigating that inmate’s death at the request of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
