Three People Arrested Wednesday Night

Three people were arrested Wednesday night in Newport…all three being in a Jeep Cherokee that fled police. The vehicle was spotted after dark with no headlights and expired tags. A traffic stop was attempted near Walgreens but the driver took off and turned north onto Woodland Street before finally stopping. The driver was 44 year old Shawn Martin who had a revoked license due to 4 prior DUI’s. The front seat passenger 37 year old Stacey Barnett who was wanted on a parole violation warrant, she was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. The backseat passenger, 44 year old Christopher Toby was also arrested…he was wanted for probation violation in Cocke County.
