More Details Released On Shysti Mayberry Murder
The Anderson County Sheriff’s office has released more details regarding the fatal shooting of a Cocke County woman. That fatal shooting on Tuesday, September 12 led to a 48 hour manhunt for the suspect that ended when 44 year old Jason Dockery was captured walking along Maynardville Pike in Union County Thursday, September 14. According to an affidavit attached to a warrant filed with Anderson County General Sessions Court, on September 12, Jason Dockery was driving a red 2015 Chevrolet Sonic with two passengers, Shysti Mayberry of Cocke County was in the front passenger seat, her two year old child was in a car seat in the back seat of the car. Dockery pulled out a 9mm Taurus pistol and shot Mayberry six times as she attempted to exit the vehicle and she fell onto the roadway near the intersection of East Wolf Valley Road and Moores Gap Road in Anderson County. The Taurus 9mm handgun was found on Dockery when he was captured. The two year old child had been dropped off on a front porch in Union County before the police pursuit crossed into Claiborne County. Dockery fled into Lee County Virginia before coming back into East Tennessee where he was ultimately captured. He is charged with first degree murder in that case.
