Gas Prices Back On The Rise
After it seemed that gas prices had maybe leveled off, prices are moving again, but not in the directio0n we want. One station in Newport on Thursday raised their price up 15 cents. Almost all stations are back above $3 a gallon after slipping back down below that mark this week. The good news is Cocke County now has the lowest average price for gas in Tennessee. The bad news is, that average price is $3.10 a gallon. Greene County also is at $3.10 a gallon. Everywhere else in East Tennessee, you will pay more. Hamblen County is $3.18, Jefferson County averaging $3.24 and Sevier County, a whopping $3.27 a gallon. Knox County is at $3.33 but Blount County has the highest gas prices in East Tennessee at $3.35 a gallon. The highest gas price in Tennessee is in Williamson County at $3.61.
The average price for a gallon of gas in Tennessee sits at $3.29 as of Friday morning according to AAA. The nationwide average is now at $3.63 a gallon for regular. Colorado now has the lowest average price at $3.08. The highest is of course California at $5.43. California the only state to have an average price higher than $5 a gallon.
