Jefferson County Woman Charged With Elder Abuse
A Jefferson County woman has been charged with elder abuse. EMS transported a 71 year old woman, identified as Sylvia Rollins to the Jefferson County Hospital. Staff there called the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office to report possible elder abuse. Investigators then went to the woman’s home in New Market and arrested the woman’s daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rollins. After the arrest was made medical staff at Jefferson County Hospital informed investigators the Sylvia Rollins had died and the body had been sent to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy. Currently Elizabeth Ann Rollins is charged with aggravated neglect of an elderly or vulnerable adult. However the sheriff’s office says additional charges could be pending depending on the result of the autopsy. Rollins is being held in the Jefferson County jail in Dandridge on a $100,000 bond.
