New Attorney Appointed To Megan Boswell
A Judge in Sullivan County this morning granted a motion by Megan Boswell’s attorney to remove himself as her counsel. Brad Sproles had filed a Motion Wednesday saying that the relationship between him and his client had deteriorated to the point that it was unsalvageable. The judge then appointed defense attorney Gene Scott to represent Megan Boswell going forward. Boswell is charged with felony murder in the death of her 15 month old daughter Evelyn Boswell nearly 3 years ago. The girl was reported missing in December of 2019, but then her remains were found on family property in March of 2020. The new appointment of Gene Scott as attorney will likely stall Boswell’s trial, which was to begin in February. Scott and his team now have to pour over evidence and documents and study the case and its developments from the past couple of years. Brad Sproles was allowed to stay on temporarily on a pro bono basis to help in the transition. Boswell is set to appear in court on December 14th for a pre-trial hearing. Her new attorney says he does not believe it is realistic that his team will be ready for that hearing in December as it will take several months to get caught up on the case.
