New Details About Fatal Shooting In Del Rio
The Cocke County Sheriff’s office released more details on that fatal shooting Monday evening in Del Rio. Shortly after 5:30 yesterday afternoon a woman called 911 to report her husband had been shot by their neighbor on Crane Way in Del Rio. Cocke County officers responded and found the victim who has been identified as 35 year old Joseph Maxwell Carter dead in his van parked in his driveway off Crane Way. In the vehicle with Carter were three other victims…all minor children ages 10 years, 9 years and 10 months. All three of the children escaped without physical injury…the older children fled from the van after the shooting while the 10 month old was removed safely by sheriff’s deputies. Just after 1am this morning, Cocke County authorities officially arrested the suspect…65 year old James Dennard Raspberry. He had been apprehended on site while trying to hide behind a tree. He has been charged with first degree murder for the death of Joseph Carter…three counts of aggravated assault and three counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Just before 8 this morning, Raspberry had made a $100,000 bond. According to the victim’s wife, there had been a history of feuding between her husband Joseph Carter and the suspect Dennard Raspberry.
