Newport Police Arrest Man On Possession Charges

A call about a man passed out in a vehicle, led to that man’s arrest on drug charges. Newport police were called Monday to the 100 block of West Broadway about a black truck with a gray hood and a man passed out. That vehicle was spotted in the Walgreen’s parking lot and police found 51 year old Gary Haney in the truck. Haney consented to a search of the truck, but a search of Haney himself turned up a knife, and a baggie with white powder was attached to it. another jag of the same powder was found inside the truck. The powder was determined to be crack cocaine. Haney was taken to jail on a charge of possession of schedule II narcotics.
