Newport Police Searching For Man Poaching Deer

A woman called Newport Police to her residence Monday night. She told police an unknown man was walking near the woods behind her apartment poaching deer. The woman told police that last week she spotted the man walking near the woods with a shotgun. She stated he pointed the gun at her and yelled at her to get off his property. She told police she noticed at that time apples the man had dropped on the ground to attract the deer. Last night she stated while walking her dog, she saw the man again. When a flashlight was shown in his direction, he ran off. The woman told police that she believes the man drives a tan Chevy truck and parks it at an abandoned house on North Cecil Street. Police are working on identifying that individual.
