Newport Rescue Squad To Receive Grant Funds
The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office announced on Monday that 104 Rescue Squads in the state would be receiving a share of $3 million dollars in grants from the Rescue Squad Grant Program. Back in 2022, Governor Bill Lee and the General Assembly approved funding to create a grant fund for Tennessee rescue squads. The grant money can be used to purchase equipment for incident response and to protect the lives of squad members. The Newport Rescue Squad was among those listed to receive part of that grant money.
Other local rescue squads receiving funds this year are White Pine, Jefferson County Rescue Squad, Sevierville, Morristown Emergency and Rescue Squad and Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad.
