Newport Woman Killed In Morristown Accident
A Newport woman was killed Friday in an car accident that happened in Morristown.
According to the Morristown Police Department, a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by 26 year old Whitney Leighann Holt of Newport was attempting to turn left from State Highway 160 onto the entrance ramp to U.S. Highway 25E. A 2018 Ford Mustang driven by 52 year old Brian Barnard of Morristown was traveling north on State Highway 160. As Holt was making her turn, she did so right into the path of Barnard’s Mustang. The Mustang struck a stop sign and a guardrail. Holt’s rotated before coming to a final rest but the impact ejected her out the passenger side window of the Cavalier.
Whitney Leighann Holt was pronounced dead at the scene.
Barnard was taken to Morristown-Hamblen Hospital with serious injuries.
