Out Of State Felons Arrested In Hawkins County
Two out of state felons were arrested in Hawkins County early Sunday morning after a traffic stop. A Hawkins County deputy observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane on eastbound Highway 11W near Mooresburg. At the wheel of the black Ford Escape was 29 year old Joshua Caleb Barnes of Detroit, Michigan. The passenger was 27 year old Reychelle De’andria Adams of Louisville, Kentucky. A bottle of vodka was sitting next to Adams well within reach of Barnes, the driver. Dispatch advised that Barnes’ Michigan license had been suspended and the registration showed to a silver Ford Taurus. Barnes allowed police to search the vehicle and they found Michigan tags in the back seat for the Ford Escape that had been switched out for Kentucky tags for a Ford Taurus. A K-9 officer also found drugs in the center console…154 grams of a gray powder believed to be fentanyl and 29 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana. Police also found a Ruger SR22 with 10 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber, a fully loaded 22 magazine in the back seat under a suitcase. Both Barnes and Adams were found to have been previously convicted of felonies. The duo is charged with possession of a Schedule I drug with intent to sell/deliver, simple possession, possession of a firearm during a felony and possession of a firearm by as convicted felon.
