Police Called To Food City West Unresponsive Female

Police were called to the Food City West in Newport Saturday about an unresponsive female found on the store’s restroom floor. Officers found 28 year old Brittany McCarter on the women’s restroom floor with a needle stuck in her arm. A blue arm tie and an open glasses case were found nearby. McCarter had a weak pulse and was barely breathing when she was found. Narcan and CPR were administered until EMS arrived. McCarter became responsive and was transported to the Newport Medical Center for further treatment. Inside the glasses case, police found a small amount of marijuana, a schedule II pill and a syringe containing heroin.
