Three Year Old Child Killed In Accidental Shooting In Claiborne County

The father of a three year old child has been arrested in Claiborne County after that three year old was shot and killed in a tragic accident on Thursday. The child’s father, Anthony Adams, was taken into custody and is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. Adams told police that his son had grabbed the barrel of a pellet gun, Adams says he tried to get the barrel of the gun away from the boy when the gun went off shooting the child in the chest. The three year old was airlifted to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville but was later pronounced dead. The Claiborne County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate that tragic shooting along with the help of the TBI.
