TWRA Stressing Water Safety For The Holiday Weekend
This weekend is Labor Day Weekend which is generally considered the end of summer. Many people are expected to take to Tennessee’s lakes and rivers this weekend…and the TWRA is reminding boaters about the importance of life jackets…in fact all children under the age of 12 are required to wear a life jacket on Tennessee waters…plus each boat is required to have one life jacket for each person on board. The TWRA says its officers will be heavily patrolling waters this weekend watching for boaters under the influence or not operating their vessel safely. Last year in Tennessee there were 22 boating fatalities. So far this year, that number is down to 17….the TWRA hopes to have that number remain the same come the end of this Labor Day weekend.
