Updates On Election Locations For August 1
Thursday is August 1 and is Election Day. This is the County General Election and the State Primary election. There are contested primaries for both Republicans and Democrats for the US Senate. There is a contested primary for the Democrat nominee for US House. Also on the ballot are two judgeship retainment questions. All County General Election offices are on the ballot unopposed.
Those who did not vote during early voting will need to cast their ballot at their local voting precinct. Administer of Elections for Cocke County, Josh Blanchard, has an update on several of the polling places in the county. Those updates are below:
Central Precinct (Newport Community Center) will now vote in Gym.
Voters at the Central precinct (Newport Community Center) will vote on the lower level of the community center in the gym and can access the gym through the new entrance that faces Cosby Highway. Voters will no longer access the Newport Community Center from the old upper-level entrance off Prospect Ave.
Armory votes in drill hall.
Voters at the Armory precinct will vote in the drill hall (large multi-purpose area) instead of the classroom. This is where voting was held in March earlier this year but a different location than 2022.
Cocke County High precinct votes in the cafeteria.
Voters assigned to CCHS will vote in the cafeteria. This is where voting was held in March earlier this year but a different location than 2022.
